I've eaten here several times. The food is pretty much always of a good standard. Lasagne is authentic and tasty. Yesterday all three of us had the potato gnochi which were really tasty, and have to say the Tiramasu, though slightly more gateau than traditional was lovely soft fluffy and delicious. Service is usually efficient though yesterday we were served by a young italian lady who was a little aggressive in delivery, slightly difficult to understand and maybe could learn to be a little 'softer' with her customers! My father often has the liver and loves it. He will usually think of an excuse to eat here to have it. I would also recommend La Cucina, a short walk from here in Cowcross Street which does fantastic food, and even the italian cafe next door to it (Atilla? or something similar) for a less formal setting. Happy Eating!

I discovered this reatuarant by chance after an LSO concert. I had the calves liver cooked in butter and sage and it was delicious. I have lived in Italy and this was very authentic. It came with a very good selection of vegetables, carrots and spinach and nicely done roast potatos. The house red was perfectly reasonable and we finished with vino santo and biscotti. I will certainly be returning.

I went to this restaurant for a works Christmas lunch last December, they had muddled up the date but nonetheless produced meals for 18 people. I had a seabass larger than my plate and the whole meal was a great sucess and everyone thought so.

I would certainly recommend this restaurant though I have not eaten from the standard menu.

We went to the Vecchio Parioli on the recommendation of the previous reviewer. We wanted a resturant near to the Barican Theatre. The three of us ordered the home made minestrone. It was basically hot water with vegetable peelings: Tasteless. There was one order of Veal, one of Carbinara and one of Lagsagne. The veal tasted more like lamb the sauce was taseless. It consisted of three small slices at £14.50. Vegetables were extra. The Carbinara was dry and tasteless. The Lagagne was good. The house Fascati was good and the service was good. Had we not been tight for time as we were eating before the show, we would have sent back all but the Lagsagne. At just under £75 it was nowhere near good value. There is a Pizza Express about 200m away where we cooud have had a far better meal for half the price.

This is a very nice, and very informal italian restaurant. Service is great, and the food is very good. There is no pizza and very little pasta on the menu, so you get a variety of different and unusual dishes. Specials tend to be good as well.
Wine is moderately priced, and obviously well sourced. Prices are reasonable, and it is possible to eat well for under £25 a head.
Much recommended, and within 20 yards of the Barbican Tube station.
