Theo Randall opened this, his first restaurant, in 2006, after working at the River Café for 17 years. There are clear advantages to launching a restaurant in a hotel: the financial backing is one, another is a minimum of guaranteed covers even on quiet nights thanks to the hotel’s guests.

Not that Randall needed to worry about the popularity of his restaurant, as it’s had consistently glowing reviews since its inception. His menu isn’t particularly fancy, nor does it go out on a limb to cover new territory, but it does have classic Italian dishes prepared to an exceptional standard (although sadly, the prices aren’t quite so rustic). Fans of perfectly cooked risottos and pasta dishes will love this.

Theo Randall spent no less than seventeen years at The River Café, a stint that heavily influenced his classic, Italian cooking. He’s also known to pop up on TV from time to time, like on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Live and bravely facing Anne Robinson on a special edition of The Weakest Link.

Theo Randall spent 17 years at the River Café before going it alone at the InterContinental on Park Lane. In a similar vein to the riverside eatery’s menu, he favours rustic Italian dishes, all perfectly executed.
