Roka, run by the same team as Zuma, has been a hit with Soho’s media community since it opened. Not only that - it’s also popular with celebrities, as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez and Pippa Middleton have all been spotted here.

Food is contemporary Japanese, with fish and meat dishes cooked on the robata grill which is visible in the exposed kitchen in the centre of the dining room. Downstairs is the glamorous bar Shochu. Lounge, named after the Japanese version of vodka.

With good looking staff and celebrity customers like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Roka continues to cater to the moneyed and the aspirational. Portions are on the small side, as Roka’s diners don’t come here to gorge themselves on food, but to socialise.

I love this restaurant I think the food is delicious. It is expensive but the ingredients and the atmosphere make it a complete experience of upper class dining.

Good quality japanese food but nothing amazing and a bit overpriced. You can have similar quality at nearby tsunami restaurant with more reasonable prices.

If you want to see pretty people or get seen by other people, this is the place to go. The hostesses and waiters are all tall and slim. The restaurant is very trendy looking. Airy interior design. The shshi bar looks dangerour, because the real wood surface is not really smooth.
The food is not too bad. The grilled sea bream that we ordered was very tasty. But the sushi pieces are very small. The rest of the food portion is all very small as well. After 70 pounds total in bill, we were surprised that we are not too full (which is good for us, I guess). They automatically added a 15% of tip onto your bill, I don't really agree with it. The service was nice, but too much. For example, they even pour the soy sauce for you. But when I asked for more wasabi to mix with the soy sauce that one waiter poured (was way too much), we had to ask three people in order to get it.
By the way, we went to Sushi Hiro the next day, we paid 31 pounds with a gerenous tip. We were full when we walked out.

We ordered the tofu with japanese horseradish and they did a phenomenal thing with such basic ingredients. Also the grilled vegetables were heavenly. Portions are really small so I don't know how you can walk out of there without ordering at least three items each (aside from dessert) and that can get expensive. I loved the wood walls and the huge wood slab counter. It was a breezy relaxed Sunday evening and the windows were open. Magical!
