Jungle Braai Barbeque Restaurant

For anyone thinking this is traditional South African food.......... think again. When we pointed out to the manager that the droewors was extremely spicy he said "it's supposed to be, that's how it is". Er... no it isn't. Not only do I know South African food very well, but considering the other two people with me are South African then I think we have a fair advantage over anyone how the food should taste (by the way, this is not South African owned).

In short the manager is completely unprofessional, is lacking in customer service skills, and even has the audacity to tell South Africans how there own food should be prepared. Everything on the menu is spicy, including the onion rings and olives. This is despite there being clearly no mention of this on the menu.

In essence, we were led to believe we were getting traditional South African food. Instead we received a ****ised version based on someone else's interpretation.

The manager has serious issues. We didn't get to even eat our food because after asking (calmly) if there was a problem (after being served very, very slowly, and pointedly having our request for cutlery to eat our food refused) the manager called us queer and physically shoved us out of the restaurant....... hard. Please never, never, never, never eat in this masculinist hell hole. The other staff seem great. We ended up going to another place down the street which, like most of the places on Brick Lane, was deeply welcoming and served great food.

Wow, an awesome experience at Jungle Braai.Great food and fantastic service. Mouth watering house specials, especially the Steaks with delicious Movenpick desserts to finish you off !
