Patient Staff In War Zone At Pizza Express, Earls Court Road.
Oh what fun to have a meal at Pizza Express near a family with the kids (and parents) from hell. Applause for the staff of the Earl's Court Road branch on Sunday as yuppie couple opt out of parenting and let their kids go berserk.
Picture the scene. A sunny afternoon in Kensington. We head for Pizza Express for a meal courtesy of wonderful Tesco Deals vouchers. All is going well until devil family arrives. The kids were stroppy and crying before they even sat down. There were tears, toys being thrown around, crockery being pushed off the table to smash on the floor, food everywhere, and kids meals sent back as the pasta wasn't plain enough....
Dad mostly stares forlornly out of the window. Mum was engrossed in her Blackberry. The staff smile through gritted teeth. We ate as fast as we could, gave the server a 'we feel your pain' nod of solidarity and headed for the door.
PS Tesco vouchers are great but you have to play it right. Order the right combination of dishes to be just over the value of the vouchers you have. Then you just pay for the (over priced) drinks.
PizzaExpress has expanded enormously over the years and now has a staggering number of outlets. The simple menu and kitchen concept has retained its freshly made ideal and you can still watch your pizza being prepared for you. This branch can cater for private parties and also provides a takeaway facility. They have live Jazz nights every Saturday and can cater for private parties of up to 40 people.
