My former employer would often book a table at this restaurant for his important lunches and dinners and I was surprised how difficult sometimes it was to get him a table (as it seemed to always be completely full) which tempted me to give it a try.
Therefore, I decided to take my boyfriend there on his birthday and booked a table 2 months in advance (I could have perhaps waited but really did not want to miss out on the opportunity).
The dress code is smart casual (no sneakers) however there was a group who were in T-shirts, shorts and sneakers (perhaps regular clients or VIPs therefore were allowed in).
We showed up on time to a small, boutique-like restaurant which was very nice but the tables were a little cramped to each other. A maitre d’hôtel took our coats and gave us a number to retrieve them later.
At first, we were seated at a wrong table and were asked to move but this was before ordering and not in the middle of the meal so I'm not complaining.
Before ordering we were suggested still or sparkling water (but tap water is a no no).
After ordering, a wine-waiter came to suggest wines which would accompany our dishes and we ordered a relatively expensive bottle (to celebrate by boyfriend's birthday).
As starter I had taken macaroni with truffles and my partner scampis (large prawns), both dishes were very tasty.
My main course was doe stew with potato gratin (absolutely loved it and even dreamt about it the following days) and my partner took the steak with green beans (and also loved his dish).
My partner enjoyed his dessert (I don't remember the name) however I was a bit disappointed with my slice of apple pie.
The meal was a very memorable experience regardless of the price (which was expensive) however the restaurant's unfortunate weakness is the service which can sometimes be very slow.
Considering the price I may not return regularly but perhaps on occasions. Please also note that a 13.5% tip is added to the bill.
