Mango & Silk

Not your typical indian, very much what I have been treated to on trips to india - really enjoyed the taste and not filled with chilli like other asian restaurants.

The prawn curry and fish curry were both to die for and the return of the owner radhika has made a significant change to the restaurant. Would and have recommended to friends, great on value for money and nice to enjoy authentic indian food.

Might take my wife there for valentines as well!

I personally disagree with that comment posted, I found the restaurant once while I was driving through sheen; noticed the place was packed out and decided to book for the next night with a few friends just to give it a try. The restaurant was cosy and had a great atmosphere, some friendly front of house and a great selection of indian food unlike I have tried before. The portions, I agree, are not massive but are so rich in flavour and filling none the less. We each had a dish and shared some vegetable dishes are found it hard to finish it all.

I recommend you try it out for yourself and not go on the word of some bad experiences. I had some wonderful lamb and there was plenty more then 6 peices. and the judgement on being poor or rich as to how much to order seems slightly insulting to some; Id suggest some people be a little less insult and and a bit more constructive!

MANGO AND SILK;
I had an awful few experiences at this Indian restaurant Mango & Silk ; 199 Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 8QT. We ate here once and were not very impressed, however we thought as it is a local, let’s give them another try. We had ordered a take away as we were had some guests over. This take away was horribly OILY and the oils were literally dripping off from the plastic boxes where the food was packed into. The portions were very small, overly priced and too as it was not enough for even one person! All he dishes had the same taste … they all had no flavors and too oily! My main concern is that this restaurant is a real health. Unfortunately, the lady I had spoken to was not very apologetic either, and hung up on me. Very unprofessional approach and place will not go here very again nor will I recommend this to anyone unless you love oil.

Went for Sunday Buffet lunch on Mothers Day and was extremley disspointed with the food and the service. Telephoned prior to check menu for buffet seelction and what we were told on the phone was certainly not what we got. Starters for 4 persons just about served one and the buffet selection for the main course was appalling. It is meant to be an indian restuarant, but the food was not indian in any way shape or form and I am Indian myself, I should know.

Management were extremley rude and ignored us the whole meal.

Most disspointing as we made a two and half hour trip to eat here, total waste of time and money (extremley overpriced).

Would not recommend at all.
