Great food and best restaurant in the area. Very clean and good service too. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who lives locally.

Very Simple-Spicy Affair is one for my family. Food is excellent (every time I have been there). Service is excellent and relaxed - no pressure and you can eat what you like (as hot as you want) and the variety is the best I have seen. Even my vegetarian mum eats there, I suggest you check it out :)

Spicy Affair is a quaint place for people with the indian taste bud. I usually visit the place when I crave for good quality indian food that tastes just like what "mama makes!". My hunt for really good Indian food in the UK started years ago and finished when I found Spicy Affair..the food and the service are brilliant! The favourites on our table are usually the masala fish, methi chicken and the chaats! I recently took a friend there who said he wasnt expecting "gajar halwa" to be that amazing. This is one place that can boast not just about their curries but even the starters and desserts are worth the money. The owners are extremely nice people which just helps the overall dining experience. I would recommend this place to any one interested in having some chilled beers with delish food!

Very good ambiance. Chaats(a popular Indian entree) were excellent. Biriyani had right spiciness and aroma. Service was brilliant - we usually order less food for dinner (just because we eat less for dinner) and usually we get a surprised look from the staff - in this case the staff (probably the owner in this case) is more focussed on delivering excellence in service and food quality.
Strongly recommended.

I work in the area and have passed this restaurant on numerous occasions not really giving it any interest. Having exhausted all the pubs and the sandwich shops in the area, a colleague and I decided to give “Spicy” a try, just before Christmas 09. Well we have never looked back.

The food is great and cooked to a high standard. Its ideal for large groups (pre-book) or you just fancy a quick bite to eat but good quality food. The décor is lovely and the ambience modern and relaxing.

The owner is lovely, he will go to any length to ensure you enjoy your food and it is cooked just the way you want it. If you tell him your favourite dish, he can find one on the menu to suite your taste. Spicy is value for money and good food all in one

Yes they do have an extensive menu; however I feel it adds even more options to your lunches or a night out. I think that Addiscombe is blessed to have a good quality Indian restaurant on their door step. What else can you ask for. Visit now before everyone else hears about it, you won’t be disappointed.

We have lived in the local area for 3 years now and have tried all the local Indian restuarants. When this opened we thought we would give it a try and we haven't went anywhere different since.

The owner is a great guy, really friendly and willing to help decide on suitable dishes. I agree there is an extensive menu but with this level of willingness to talk you through and guide choices the range is a great way to continue to experiment with tastes in a familar and friendly environment. The food is fabulous with options off the beaten track of your normal selection of samosas and kormas.

The service may not be super fast but you are left with a suitable amount of time to relax and chat over a meal. We have never been left waiting an excessive length of time.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a relaxed and delicious meal.

P.S. There are credit card facilities.

I do not recognise the first review as the same restaurant I have visited. I guess either there is more than one called by the same name, or the previous review was written by someone who is in competition, and wanted to discredit it.

I have now visited the Spicy Affair in Cherry Orchard Street, several times.
I would say this is among the best Indian food I have tasted scince I lived in India.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, they DO HAVE credit card facilities, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is interested in good quality Indian food.

This is a newly opened restaurant and we thought we'd give it a try.

Staff were helpful and I have to say, on the whole, the food is fairly positive. A way too extensive menu (totalling well over 100 items!) offers food from all over India.

However, before you go here, please this in mind:

• Service, though friendly is soooooooooo slow!
• If you visit with friends don't expect to all eat at the same time!
• Take cash. They haven't got any card facilities!
• At the end of the meal don't tell them if it was late in arriving, or there was too much choice. They just won't want to hear it!

I'll give this new restaurant a few months before people realise that there are much better, more professional, and finer choices from othe restaurants in the area.
Have your say
