My mind is boggled by the 2 extraordinarily negative reviews below. I went to Inaho last night (Valentine's Day - yes cliché, whatever). I have been before and I knew it to be fabulous, so I'll merge my two experiences together - this, I feel, will be useful as one of them was on a very quiet day where there were only about 6 people in. In contrast, last night was very full.
Service:
I don't understand all the complaints about service. Inaho's service is charming but slow. Frankly, who wants to rush? I noticed one or two people hopping up and down in their seats after not being served for about 5 minutes - perhaps that's the type of person who reviews it so negatively? On both occasions I was given a reasonable amount of time to decide what I wanted, but not an uncomfortably long time.
Evidently they haven't been to Japan if they think the service is odd. It's very Japanese - like the simple decor. For those that don't know, Jiro, who is the world's finest sushi chef, has his restaurant in a subway in Tokyo. He also has 3 Michelin stars and charges $450-500 a head....
Food:
Irreproachable. Their moriawase (mixed sashimi) is unbelievably good and the quality is far above anywhere else. The nigiri platter is the same. It's unbelievably good quality fish.
The entrees are delicious - I would recommend nasuden-gaku above all. I have never had noodles there, so I can't comment - but the place is famous for SUSHI, so go there if you want fantastic sushi. Go to Wagamama for noodles!
Oh, and the tempura was utterly delicious.
Drinks:
Fine prices and range.
Value:
It's expensive - I spent £85 last night for 2, but we ate a LOT, had a large flask of hot sake and I gave a decent tip. Basically, this place rocks. It's worth the extra price as a treat. I, for one, enjoyed being left to enjoy my sushi in peace, without constant 'is everything ok, sir?'.
I hope I will be able to go again many times in the future.
Inaho is a charming, little restaurant decorated with Japanese paintings and adorns to give it a traditional feeling. They serve a variety of Japanese dishes at their restaurant and also cater for vegetarians.
