I came here to visit someone in the Travel Inn nearby and after a meal here I couldn't believe our luck after stumbling on this place.
Authentic Sczechuan food in a classic Chinese restaurant environment. The food was VERY spicy, which I appreciated and I was educated by my Chinese companion that a lot of the dishes were traditionally cooked. I would definitely go back - not least because there are karaoke rooms upstairs!

All In London Review
Authentic Szechuan food and karaoke to boot
What the location of this authentic Chinese restaurant means is that beside the chain restaurants and DIY megastores there is a place to visit and eat local delicacies transplanted from their homes thousands of miles away. We travelled from East London to visit and we weren’t left disappointed. Out of place and out of the way, the restaurant has all the markings of a Chinatown venue. Huge round tables with spinning centre pieces, bustling service and a bright, Mao-adorned décor. What the Szechuan Restaurant also comes with is a first floor Karaoke room that can be hired for free; the catch being that any alcoholic drink served to the karaoke guests is almost double the regular price.
But we weren’t here to sing… unless we’re talking about the praises of the mussels in black bean sauce! I would normally steer well clear of black bean having overdosed in the past. But the Szechuan chillies mixed in with this particular adaptation gave it a kick that turned it into something closer to the depth of a delicate hot and sour soup. We also ordered the garlic and ginger cucumber, a delicious cold dish that also has the punch to keep your nearest and dearest away from you for the rest of the night (and perhaps the next day too).
As in all Szechuan places we have to try the region’s famous ma po dofu. A spicy, citrus dish of tofu, peppers and minced meat. It was up to scratch if a little too salty – an issue that some might have with the majority of the food here.
Service was rapid, the food was great and the bill came in at a reasonable £100 for five with two bottles of wine. While we probably wouldn’t travel so far again – unless there was karaoke involved – if you live around Greenwich then it’s worth the trip. It definitely beats the Pizza Hut or Prezzo next door.
