Quite simply, Ma Goa is the finest Indian restaurant (in my humble opinion) south of the Thames. Its idiosyncratic menu, charming service and lovely atmosphere combine to create a true treat. The Portuguese influence is very much there in the cuisine (how many London Indian restaurants serve pork?), and the food is prepared to exacting standards. There is always a fascinating specials board, and I always struggle to decide what to have.
It's not cheap, but it most definitely is the perfect place for a treat or a special occasion. Reckon on £40-£50 each for three course with ample supplies of wine. I try to go every six weeks or so.
The Sunday lunchtime buffet experience is a wonderful, almost chaotic, 'free for all'. But book ahead, Ma Goa gets packed for this.
I've introduced quite a few friends to this gem of a restaurant, all of them have been back for more, either with me or with others. I think this pretty much sums up its appeal.
Ma Goa Restaurant serve a variety of Goan dishes at their restaurant. Catering for private parties of up to 50 people is available upon request.
