I've tried various different Chinese restaurants and I have to say this is by far the best, the service is great, I went in there with my family and the waiter was very happy and spoke to my 4yr old as person, the food was great, portions were very generous an I absolutely loved the vibe.

My earlier post lamenting the apparent closure of Hung Tao was, I am delighted and relieved to state, premature. The signs posted on the door stating that the lease had been terminated were due to a temporary rental problem and one of the very best Cantonese restaurants in London is up and running again (June 6th 2009) as good as ever.

It is sad that not more people are raving about this restaurant - but I suppose that is why it's such a special place for me, cos it's a hidden gem, of sorts. The quality of the food has been consistent and great over the years. I especially like the prawn dumpling soup (they also serve wonton soup, which is just as great). For such a small restaurant, they offer a great many selections of which my family and I love the seafood noodles, the rice and stewed beef, the roast duck and pork, the sweet and sour pork chops, the list just goes on and on! The prices are incredibly low for such delectable dishes. Sadly, it's a BYO for the alcohol, but that's a minor inconvenience, although I am told that their sister restaurants across the road have a great selection of wines.

What I also feel most inclined to add is that the service is fantastic - the manager and his staff work with such speedy efficiency, half the time, they zoom past and our dishes are on our table, waiting to be tucked into. A definite must go when in London's Bayswater district.

This has to be one of the best small Chinese restaurants in London! Tucked away between a Starbucks and a video shop in Queensway amongst a great many other Chinese restaurants including the famous "Royal China", this small restaurant specialises in noodles, duck and Cha Sui pork. Although the inside seems quite dated, Hung Tao is full of character and at Under £5 for a crispy fried noodle with shredded chicken you can't really go wrong, and as a bonus the food is great!!If you wanted to you could also bring along your own bottle of wine or beer (expect corkage) to enjoy with your meal. Overall, one of the best, cheapest and authentic chinese restaurants in London!
