Thoroughly disappointed and disheartened with the Pizza Express just up the road from Southwark Cathedral. Went there for a meal but the whole of the ground floor was deserted, despite all of the tables being fully set. They would only serve meals upstairs, despite being up a steep metal spiral staircase. A member of staff saw me with a stick and struggling to walk, particularly in the heat but did absolutely nothing to help, just turning us away. This occasion really coloured my views on Pizza Express as I see it now (or this one particularly) as unfeeling and ageist. Shame as we’ve been regular customers for forty years but it appears that they only want able bodied young people.
