The Red Pepper serves a variety of Italian dishes with a Mediterranean influence. Upstairs is a small restaurant with white walls, a bar and plain wooden tables and chairs. Downstairs is a room with a galley kitchen where you can watch your pizzas being cooked in a large traditional wood oven. You can also make your own pizzas and be taught how to transform a piece of dough by twirling it. You then add your own toppings.

They made us sit by the door although the place was almost empty. They didn´t have any of the 3 wines listed by the glass on the wine menu, nor bottles of those. They tried charged 25 for very bad screwtop wine. They made us wait 40 minutes for the pizza. Never again.

Fantastic for great service and brilliant atmosphere. I have to say that the pizza at this place it better than any other I've ever had at pizza express or any other restaurant (and that includes a trip to Italy!)

Booking would be essential as it was packed all night. The food really was great - make sure you leave room for a desert mmmmmm!!

Surpisingly the value was excellent, especially considering the location (not the cheapest of areas!!)

I would 100% recommend this restaurant. It is small but has a lovely atmosphere and really great service. And if you like pizza there really is no question - this place is a great find!

The red pepper was a great find. The food was impressive and its the first place in London were I've had proper seafood (a big plus for a Canadian). The prices were reasonable, portions were fairly large and the wine list was quite good for a small restaurant.

The staff were lovely and knowledgeable. It was very busy and we didn't have a reservation, but they made an effort to accomodate us.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good Italian.

First time for us a this place. Had heard mixed reports.
First off, the food. The starters were very average for the price (£7/8+); swordfish slices with (still frozen!) berries; involtini were better but bland. Pizzas ok - but the pepperoni on mine had a taste in common with Tesco's standard pepperoni on pizzas and the topping was hihgly uneven with large areas of bread uncovered.
But the service! Oh dear. Too many waiters (in a tiny space), unhelpful, rolling eyes at request to be reseated, rolling eyes at question whether they did pastas as primis (you are an Italian restaurant, guys!). Service charge pre-added so tricky to remove without making a fuss. Ah well, won't be returning!
Have your say
