The place was unevenly lit and untidy, but I thought this could be overlooked if the food was good.. The food, was poor overall. The service was slow, the bread was burnt, the vegetables were overcooked and tasted like they came out of a can and microwaved. I did like the taste of the rack of lamb that I ordered but it was very small.. All in all, my bill came up to £30 including a soft drink. For £30, you could have a 3 course meal elsewhere at much better quality.

God awful and obvious they fake reviews on here.
I knew it looked bad from the outside but friend's choice. Burnt bread charged for twice, takes a long time to serve and forgot friend's starter. Awful main of overcooked vegetables. For £25 you can eat a million times better in any restaurant in Soho.

I had dinner at this French bistro just a few days after a visit to Paris. The partridge in red wine sauce was as nice as anything I had in Paris. Also, it was very good value. This main course, together with a starter and a glass of wine cost less than £15. On the service side, I was very impressed at the care with which le patron made a wheelchair customer very welcome.

This is a strong warning to avoid Bar du Marche. The manager is offensive in his way of speaking to patrons and also disrespectful to the customers to the border of fraud - overcharged us for our drinks and slapped on a charge on the credit card bill without us agreeing so beforehand.

Worst experience in London for many years.

To the uninitiated It may be easy to overlook Bar Du Marche in the array of restaurants in Soho. However, if you're looking for somewhere where the staff are friendly and will go out of their way to be helpful then you can't go wrong here. The food has never disappointed, I always love the Mussels - never overspoilt in a gloopy cream sauce. For a good steak at a good price you can't go wrong with the "Steak Frittes" - perfectly cooked, as requested. As locals it's good to know that there is somewhere that you can rely on for good foood and a great ambiance.

I went here about a year ago and then it was truly amazing. I had the best salmon and gratin ever. However, this time I can't say the same. The salmon was the most overcooked salmon I have ever had, the vegetables were overcook, so were the potatoes. I will come back again, but just for a drink, and to ask when the old chef will come back.

It used to be a great little place....however since Patrick left, we have been left with a very rude chef who from one day to another, can be friendly or plain Rude..Shame....

I knew the place from my last visit in London and decided to come back. Yes, it's a small place and nogt for those who expect a 'perfect', posh restaurant. But if you are in for a bit of chracter, it's simply lovely. I went on four different evenings and tried the starters, main courses, wines and liked it a lot. I even got to practice my French :-) and was treated in a very friendly, inviting manner. I'll definitely be back!

My friend and I went here and she had muscles whilst I opted for the goat's cheese salad with toast and potato gratin dishes. Her muscles were in a 'sauce' she likened to dish water and her bread was cheap and stale. My toast was the cheap melba toast you buy in supermarkets and the gratin had a piece of foil in it which I was lucky to catch before it went in my mouth! When I mentioned this to the lady, she said: 'Oh'. Would NOT recommend this place!

I went there for my birthday 3rd Dec. I had the basic steak and frites £9( probably the best steak i have had in a very long time), didn't even need the steak knife. Their house champagne was pretty good ( and I don't even like Champagne usually). We were made to feel very welcome. It is like being on holiday in France ( I have not found food this good in France yet). The only reason it is not a 10/10 is because of the loud mouth TV types that seem to think its ok to eff and blind every other word. ( it makes you look very stupid if you are reading this ). This is no reflection on Greg, and the lovely waitresses, all real French people I might add. We did enjoy speaking our best French to them. I cannot wait to go again. Thankyou Greg for a lovely time. The food was excellent, I highly recommend it to anyone, We will be back very soon. xxxx
P.s my lips on the wall are available to buy, 2nd row down, 3rd on the left. ( it's for charity). See you soon.

The place is charming. The food and serving were not very good. A little bit disapointed after having seen so many good reviews...
