Carrara at St. James is the restaurant at the newly built St. James Theatre

This elegant restaurant, together with the venue’s other vibrant eating and drinking spaces, offers guests arguably the finest combination of dining and entertainment to be found anywhere in London.

Talented head chef René Cahane, who has over 20 years’ experience working at some of London’s finest hotels, restaurants and private members’ clubs, has created a menu for Carrara that celebrates the best of British cuisine but with an Italian twist.

This fusion of culinary influences, theatre and art is reflected in the amazing sculptural staircase, designed by internationally renowned artist Mark Humphrey and built in Italy from six tons of white Carrara marble, which transports guests up to the first floor restaurant and which gives the restaurant its name.

René uses locally sourced, seasonal ingredients wherever possible to create his deceptively simple but flavoursome fare. Succulent starters such as pressed rabbit terrine with pickled blackberries & radicchio and pan-seared scallops with black pudding & baby spinach are followed by equally tempting mains that include confit duck leg, cannellini bean cassoulet & orange reduction and Kent lamb cutlets, marinated in garlic & rosemary. Desserts of the calibre of rich dark chocolate fondant with Jude’s ‘very vanilla’ ice cream conclude this fine culinary experience.
