Oui Madame!

Oui Madame! is an authentic French Bistro. Newly opened in March 2013 and already acclaimed in the local area and beyond, the restaurant offers delicious chacutteries & french cheese platters, foie gras and organic foccacias, and a daily-changing menu of authentic French food with modern twists cooked by Chef Stefan Laugenie. Past dishes have included cream of artichoke with jerusalem artichoke chips and mussels, duck breast with sweet garlic and baba de rhum with blood orange sorbet for dessert.

There is also an extensive wine selection championing only independent French producers, as well as adventurous cocktails, cachaca (better known as Brazilian rum), special caipirinhas and "marvellous" absinthe.

Oui Madame!’s candle-lit ambience is said to be inspired by the Surrealist ideology that “dreams can solve problems”, and the illicit, mysterious absinthe bars where Parisian artists in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s sought inspiration and indulgence.

The atmospheric basement is filled with soul jazz and blues music; there is a wall of clocks and velvet chairs trimmed with lace doily.

The hospitable owners started Parisian institution Favela Chic 20 years ago, and later opened branches in London and Brazil. Oui Madame! is their latest venture- bringing Parisian verve to the hidden basement in East London.
