I am an italian chef and, as tourist, I went with my girlfriend to eat "fresh" calamari...
It's sad to say, but during the night both of us had had vomiting...

The place is not bad, but the service is really rude!!

Not raccomended!!

We have been to Aldo's twice now when in London. On both occasions the service has been friendly and the food good. On a recent visit 3 of our party had various pastas and I had veal in an excellent and tasty sauce. Starters were good, we had a selection, Caprese, Mushrooms and Calamari and the house wine at £12 is priced reasonably and very drinkable unlike some of the over-priced eateries in the area. This was rounded off with a generous slice of Tiramasu and a really good cup of coffee. Warm and friendly it is, suave and sophisticated maybe not but for a well cooked and reasonably priced meal after a long day sightseeing or before or after a show it is a good bet. We will definately be going again. If there was a complaint it would be the 10% service put on the bill. We would have tipped any way but prefer to make the gesture rather than be coerced into it. Bearing in mind the prices however it is not a particular issue.

Four of us had dinner here on a Saturday night. Warm and friendly service from the start. We ordered off the £10 3 course set menu. Pate, deep fried mushrooms and sardines were ordered and all were enjoyed. For mains I had the Italian sausages and beans of which the sausages were terrific but the beans only ok. Others had the red mullet which looked terrific. Finally we all were given lemon sorbet which was lovely and light. All in all for £10 (£12 for the house red) this really was an very enjoyable, low key meal. Recommended.

My Lady and I went to Trattoria Da Aldo at the end of a long, tiring day. We were surprised at how good the £10 set menu was, and loved the authentic Italian atmosphere. The Minestrone was tasty, the spag bolognese excellent, and the ice cream had a real vanilla flavour, rather than a "factory" taste. The wine was good, honest plonk, tasty and fruity, and the waiters sense of humour came through in his interaction with us. We will definitely go back next time we are in London.

Cheap, and definitely cheerful, they get the J&B seal of approval! ;-)

If you've ever been to a trattoria in the south of Italy and enjoyed it you'll love this place. The guys that own it are dry as a bone but the food was great and so was the atmosphere. I had polenta with homemade pesto and then the salsice cooked in a sauce of borlotti beans and pancetta. My wife had a mushroom risotto, which was ok. House wine was good and the whole meal was reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be going back if we’re in the area.

Sad to say this place was really disappointing, as on first entrance it seemed like a really sweet and cosy italian place. The food (3 courses for £10 or a la carte) was really poor - dodgy breaded mushrooms, the "authentic" italian sausages were poorer than hot dog ones and the icecream dessert was a sickly sweet non-italian variety. The waiter barely spoke two words and didn't make us feel welcome, and the toilets were grim (a sign said they were last cleaned in 94...i would believe it too!). Our bill was incorrect too. Such a shame - would return but only to share a bottle of nice italian wine!

Rude service, wobbly tables, poor, poor food and expensive to boot. The tomato sauce on one dish starter dish looked and tasted like some nasty industrial glutenous gloop. The spaghetti bolognese was obviously loaded with salt. All this and they charge over the top for it, even for measly bread and slap 10% on top for the terrible service. This venue should really get it's act together, I've worked nearby for 2 years and I wouldn't touch it any more.

This is not a rant, it's just that there are so so so many other places nearby that are much much better and for less.

This is probably one of the most unpretentious places in London! Love it right down to it's gingham table cloths! Decent food, decent prices and an atmosphere you can't find anywhere else. Even entertaining when the 'gangsters & their Mols' pop in for their supper. Don't come if you're looking for posh as you won't find it...come if you're down to earth, love talking and being with your friends and to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Enjoy...my friends and I do often!

Not bad. Food was reasonable although menu not great unless you are heavily into meat. Service and restaurant are reasonable but not the most impressive, for the same price have eaten at better. Overall ok but wouldnt use again.

A homely, welcoming place with great food.
