My wife and I are two Australian financially comfortable seniors, professionals, worldly and well travelled.
We have had the pleasure of eating at, and experiencing Jewish restaurants at all the four corners of the world.
Last month before joining our European Baltic cruise from South Hampton we spent a wonderful week in London, spoilt only by our horrible experience at Reuben's Restaurant/Deli 79 Baker Street.London
We didn't read some of the other peoples reviews before we went there otherwise we would not have gone there to suffer their utter arrogance ,rudeness and total

Hire different staff.
The service at Reubens is always unfriendly (bordering on rude), but the last time I braved their dour faces, the man cutting the salt beef told me he didn't want my business because I politely asked him for lean meat in my sandwich. Not a problem - Harry Morgans up the road is more than happy to cut their beef lean, and the service is excellent. As is their kneidlach soup. Reubens' is over-salted.

£12 for a 'Reuben' sandwich which I was told was 'very big' was actually extremely small, had no russian dressing (actually no dressing at all!) or cheese and hardly any sauerkraut- it was basically 3 slices of beef between two slices of bread and some pickles. Also had a matzo ball soup which cost £6 and had only two matzo balls in it. I am extremely disappointed especially for the money I paid.

The Deli side as the restaurant downstairs are great. I have been there several times and always enjoyed the food and service. Keep it up Reubens! Great job!

I go to this place a lot as I work nearby, this place is great, if you want a light lunch the deli has some great soups and salads and im addicted to the saltbeef and shawarma. Also my collegues tell me the downstairs has a great steak reubens (mustard and brandy sauce) Keep it up Reubens!!!

At our latest visit to Reubens, the food was of a decent quality, however I found Annie, the current person in charge and her daughter unnecessarily rude to the point of arrogance and indeed swearing at a customer! This is totally unacceptable, and we SHALL NOT be returning, indeed will be warning our friends not to go there either. It is not the only place in London for Kosher diners, so I urge you to try elsewhere! Pity the tourists who are based in that area, who cannot, unlike us, travel to find somewhere they value their customers.

Great food. Every time I am in town from New York I always swing by my favorite London restaurant. Salt Beef is amazing!!!

The food was exceptional although the dessert frosting was a bit stale, but I assume due to the low demand for my unique dessert taste was the reason. I had duck with a brilliant sauce and fried vegetables. I would recommend this restaurant for more formal dining occasions in the evening.

I've been to this restaurant couple of times and always served by friendly staff:) Food at reubens is unusual and tastes fabulous. The best salt beef sandwiches:) and incredible desserts!!

The service was slow, the food - when it eventually arrived - was good, but the bill was atrocious. Okay, we knew it was expensive when looking at the menu, but to be charged £3.50 per person as a 'cover charge' and then add 12.5% service charge on top meant that a single course a la carte meal and a bottle of water for three ended up at over £100. Kosher food here in the UK is not cheap, but this was ridiculous.

Worst place ever!!!

Bad food, awful service, rude staff and got ripped off!!!

The service from the start was bad, food came and it was nasty. Then they gave us the bill and charged 15% service instead of 12.5% ... which is still a rip off!! Then needed 20mins to work out it was wrong!!! Then tried to add cover charge??? The manager didn't even know what cover charge meant!!!

Avoid at all costs!!!!

Dark entrance, disinterested staff. Really would not bother going back here again. £8 for a tiny sandwich. Plenty of better places to eat in the area.

Take-away from Reubens? I just can't believe it. It's not a MacDonalds-type place but a proper Kosher restaurant, that I choose to go to as a Christian, so I don't have to do Kosher myself. But why didn't you just go there and eat, and experience the wonderfully efficient and friendly service and the superb food, instead of having food delivered to your workplace from a place that is not geared up to do take-aways or food to go, if you want to be 'cool' :)? I presume your firm ignores the Work-Life balance policy, or else you are all workaholics that you have to eat on the job in the office? Such a shame that you had to go malign and criticise this wonderful restaurant over a take-away scenario! Go back there and have a proper meal. The office will not fall down without you! :)

Don't listen to this guy's rubbish. It is a restaurant, not a takeaway service. The food is exceptional as is the service. Definately worth eating at!!

We ordered a take away lunch to be delivered to our offices for a client visiting on a business lunch. The quality of food was acceptable, but questionable as to whether a chicken sandwich and 2 sides is worth over £30!
We specifically requested that the food arrived before 12pm, for which we were paying for a black cab to have it delivered. After calling Reuben’s at 12pm we were told it had not left and would be on its way soon. The food arrived 30mins late by which time our client had to go without lunch whilst the rest of the guests ate, much to our embarrassment. After ringing to complain we were faced with a very unprofessional and rude member of staff who told us we should have cancelled the order when we called at 12pm! Total lack of customer service, manners, punctuality, or professionalism and highly over priced. Not recommended for business catering.
