Oriental Star

Oriental Star is a great place to grab a bite to eat... Great, cheap, original Chinese food, the décor isn't bad, friendly staff, quick service, and now they deliver. Not the place to go if you're wanting a Michelin Star dinner, but great if you want a quick lunch before you go back to work.

Hi - The roast duck and rice is cheap (£4.50) and not too bad at all. Although they simply pop the duck breast in the deep fat fryer rather than roast it! The Singapore noodles are pretty good and also well priced (£3.20). I'm not sure about the previous reviewers comments about Thai food - there wasn't any on the menu last time I looked. The food comes quickly. As the other reviewer said, stick to the basics, especially as everything comes in a sauce which tend to be a little on the gloopy / salty side. The beverages are basic - cans and water - although they do Chinese tea if you ask. If you sit in the cafe is a little cold and draughty - with no porch and the door opening straight onto the busy Finchley Road. For a quick and cheap eat its fine, but not worth going out of your way for.

Oriental Star is a nice place to go for a casual lunch. Even though the decor is not fine-dining standard (but it has just been re-done), the excellent food definitely makes up for it. I highly recommend it, and anybody who likes Thai food should definitely go!!!

good food, quick service - but stick to the basics.

Excellent chinese cafe and take away. Fast service, good quality food and reasonable pricing. The only downside is the parking restrictions along Finchley Road.
