Charming Pizzeria run by Husband and Wife team

The pizzas at this new Clerkenwell eatery are great value. Whether a simple ham, cheese and mushroom or one that's dripping with melted gorgonzola and cooked meat, they're all priced at £8.50. That also goes for the DIY pizzas where you can go crazy with as many toppings as you like - there are over 20 listed on the menu, including vegan cheese, grilled pineapple and meatballs.

They're all named after London locations and ingredients are not scrimped on. The Billingsgate has whole salty anchovies, juicy capers, olives, mozzarella and rosemary. The Smithfield Meat Market is quite the meat feast, with deli items like Italian sausage, spicy N'duja and paprika-rich chorizo.

The green salad sounds like a bit of a misnomer as it's more than greens chucked in a bowl. There's a flavoursome pomegranate vinaigrette poured over peppers, artichoke hearts and chunks of goat's cheese.

We're too full for dessert but there are chocolate pizzas as well as more traditional sticky toffee pudding and carrot cake. In terms of drinks their speciality are the beers, particularly British and London-brewed varieties; we try the refreshing Weird Beard Mariana Trench pale ale and the hoppy Curious Brewing IPA.

It's a dimly lit, spacious place with a mezzanine floor, and though the dining room isn't overly busy on the night we visit the kitchen is - they have a delivery service and we see dozens of pizza boxes being packaged and collected. Run by a husband and wife team, it's good news they take bookings, an old fad by restaurant standards these days.
