Located within the 4-star Kingsway Hall Hotel, the Harlequin is the perfect place for relaxed dining in Covent Garden. The restaurant’s unpretentious atmosphere is ideal for low-key dinners, while the enviable location in the heart of the West End’s theatre district makes it popular for pre-theatre dining.
Executive Chef Kirk d’Angelo has travelled around the globe and regularly changes the Harlequin’s menus to showcase the best local and seasonal produce. His brasserie-style offerings include dishes like warm goats cheese and potato galette; epaulet of braised lamb with glazed shallots and creamed potato; and pork tenderloin with sautéed black pudding, apple and crackling. The extensive wine list will satisfy all tastes and budgets, and the lounge bar serves excellent cocktails.
Promotion : pre theater menu starts from £16.95

We booked a table through last minute for Valentine's Day and they really did not disappoint. From the very friendly welcome when we arrived (about 15 minutes late!), to the chocolates as we left the restaurant almost last - the service was fautless.
The special was a four course meal and the food was fantastic. Our starters (Mushroom soup with Truffle oil/Samosa with Apple/Celery Raita) was just right portion wise and tasted good. Course 2 was a Champagne sorbet - fantastic for cleansing the palette again, very tasty.
Our mains were really, really nice - Pollack (fish) with Pancetta and white beans / Chicken in Tangier sauce with Cous Cous. Portion sizes were good, food was hot and very well presented. Dessert did not dissappoint either with Strawberry Fool with homemade shortbread and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce. We just about had the room.
The whole set up was lovely - silver stars sprinkled on the table; a near perfect red rose in the vase; well lit so as to promote some intimacy without stumbling about in the dark and staff who thought carefully about when to interrupt, apologised for even the slightest delay and seemed happy to serve you - something that seems to be a bit of a premium these days! And at £25 per head with a glass of wine - this was definitely the way to do credit crunch Valentine's!
We were sold and will definitely go back on a bog standard non Valentiney-type day!

My experience at the Harlequin for my pre theater was a great surprise, the building looks smashing (an old theater) and the place has its charms.
Service was friendly, quick and the food was excellent.
£16.95 for 2 courses I had warm goats cheese and potato galette and then lamb shank with mash potato.
By 6.30pm we were out and it was easy to go to the West End / theater land!
Definitly we will be back!
