Although there’s no prize at the end of it, if you manage to get through a phall curry at Bengal Village you’ll be joining the select few who’ve survived eating one of the world’s hottest dishes. Just to give you an idea, its name comes from “phallus”, supposedly to indicate how macho you have to be to eat it.

A very basic and average curry house in Brick Lane. Looks cosy from the outside however the restaurant is small. The restaurant was busy when we ventured in but promptly seated by the staff who are both professional and acoomodating. The menu is different than the average curry house. The food itself was no barter. Had to wait almost an hour for the food to arrive. It was ok but been to far better places on Brick Lane. The wine list was small. Overall will skip this on my next visit to the lane.

I've been to Bengal Village four times now and I have to agree with other reviewers.
Food has been always of high standard and service is good or excellent depending on the day.

Last time there was little bit of rushing when we had already ordered the bill but with those prices they just have to turn tables several times a night to make any profit.

Total bill for 6 of us was little bit over £100 which we happily rounded up to £20/person.
