I find it hard to believe that anyone has anything bad to say about cottos. I stumbled on this restaurant 3 months ago, decided to try it because my daughter is coeliac. She usually has problems when we eat out because so many restaurants have no idea what coeliac disease is, so when we entered cottos and was warmly welcomed by the owner Lino, imagine my surprise to find out he not only understood what coeliac disease. Is, he has the condition himself. Food, service and atmosphere was excellent. You are made to feel very welcome, it's my daughters favourite restaurant, superb,!!

I visited Cotto's this week on a visit to London and found it to be a very friendly place serving fantastic food of a high quality. The restaurant has a lovely chilled back atmosphere and the staff are very attentive. The owner of the restaurant made a special effort to make sure he made conversation with each table of diners, many of whom looked like regular visitors.
The food itself was fabulous with good sized portions and very good prices.
I would recommend Cotto's to everyone and would definatley return there if I was in the area.
I moved to London in September of '08 and found Cotto in a web search as a restaurant that serves gluten-free Italian food. Since that time, I have gone in at least twice-a-month. Cotto is a family owned and operated business. The family is from Naples and they are very passionate about presenting the food from their region to anyone lucky enough to visit. The food is excellent, the service is friendly, the prices are perfect. My favorites are the spinach and avocado salad with fried ham and the gluten-free pasta bolognese. These folks welcome you warmly each time you go in. Wine list is small but features all solid Italian wines at very drinkable prices. Desserts are ridiculously good (unreal if you are gluten free - it is heaven!) I especially like the tartufo bianco. They make proper Italian espresso as well! The only problem with this place is that it's location is not perfect. I have to travel 30 mins to get there. But the fact that I am willing to do that speaks volumes about how good it really is.
A group of four of us had new years eve at Cotto. The food was very good. For starters I had battered cheese, for main a rack of lamb and for desert a chocolate moose all of these were very tasty and I have to say in the upper range of food quality in London.
As a regular at Cottos the thing that stands out is the friendleness of staff. This is a family run restaurant and it shows. It is rare to find this in London. Overall a very pleasant evening.
The food at Cottos is remarkably poor. Of the starters, the salads were somewhat scant, though the grilled aubergines were of reasonable quality. The mains however, were substandard, which was only matched by the attitude of the service. The mains tasted plain, though portions were large (though the qualitly is reflected by the mid range prices of the meals). Staff were pleasant and attentive, but unsuprisingly failed to check that our meals were okay, given that the top of one of the mains was burnt black (all meals were pasta dishes and lagsana. Rather than admit to this mistake and offer a replacement, the dish was covered in parmesan prior to being serve (in italian restaurants, it is routine to be asked whether you want this added, rather than it being used to masked burnt food). Noticebaly, no-one else was offered parmesan on their meals even though they asked for it. Also routine in any restaurant is be be asked how your mains are...obviously this didn't happen. Although other diners appeared to be content (they seemed like regular customers), this incident may nevertheless be a one off. Regardless, it was not dealt with in a professional manner of any worthwhile restaurant. The food was poor overall, the attitude of the the established inadequate, though the waiting staff were on the whole, friendly.
