We only visit London once a year, and always eat at BASE; the service is first class, the menu choice very varied, the atmosphere calm without loud music (always welcome!) and it's easy to get to (one minute from Baker Street tube).
The prices are very reasonable and we're always treated very well with understanding if we wish to make a change or omission to any particular dish.

I'm very upset by my experience at Base Brasserie at Baker Street cafe this morning.
I was very clear when ordering eggs benedict that I wanted them medium well and that the yolks should not be runny.
When my dish came 5 minutes later, I could see that the yolks were completely raw. I told the waiter I was unhappy and that I had asked for them to be not runny. He took the plate away and came back 2 minutes later, having microwaved the eggs, the sauce and the bacon, rather than just remaking the eggs the way I had asked for them in the first place. I refused to eat them and sent them back. The waiter made no apology or even asked me if I wanted an alternative breakfast.
The waiters were extremely unconcerned about the situation.

The menu has a really wide choice and the quality of the cooking is consistently first class. We often take friends with us, and everyone always finds one of their favourite dishes on the menu.Staff are friendly and helpful, and the prices really reasonable. It's also nice to find a wine list with a good selection of interesting bottles at sensible prices. Best to book, particularly on a Friday or Saturday evening. We live locally and have been eating here at least twice a month for years - and we've never had a bad meal.
