Unfortunately i have to agree with negative opinions on this site- I was stunned how bad the service was. Went recently after refurbishment and I wasn't even greeted. I came with my 4 month old in a pushchair and the waiter asked if I can leave it "there" pointing to a dark corner. No, I will not

Despite rotten reviews, I went today to Al Dar as a friend told me about it. The food was delicious with very generous helpings. The service was prompt and friendly and the food arrived quickly - always a boon at lunchtime. I would return.

Simply the worst service i have ever experienced. So much so that this is my first ever review on a site such as this. Completely ignored for 5 mins and if it wasn't for the rumbling in my belly would have left. When I was finally served they were rude and obnoxious. The kebab was dirty and mainly consisted of fat and very little actual meat. They didn't even ask what sauces and salad I wanted so just got was I was given. I felt really bad the next day and would advise anyone wanting a kebab on Sloane Square to walk across the road and hit the golden archers (McDonalds).

Al Dar looks nice, but the service is very unfriendly, and the food is APPALLINGLY BAD.

I live on Kings Road, and have bought two shawarmas here. Both of them contained less than 1% meat. every mouthful was a stomach-churning mixture of bread, sauce and FAT. Although there was also some CARTILAGE mixed in there.

I've always loved shawarmas - they are my favourite snack in the word, and it's usually worth putting up with some bad service to get an averagely good one, but these are horrigible!

They are a complete insult and this place is a pure tourist trap. no wonder all their customers looked sad!

My advice is to go home hungry rather than eat here and feel sick. It's been a week since i bought food there and i still feel nausious just thinking about what i bought.

On a brigter note, the chips were edible.

A surreal experience. When the waiter threw the menu on the table I thought 'ah here we go'. He disappeared for a long time but wasn't in a rush so I waited until he'd got tired of waiting for me to get tired of waiting for him to start waiting. Food was great. The he came over "can i clear these?" "yeah sure, thanks" "how was it, good?" "great thanks". Obviously approximates the Lebanese phrase for "how much for your sister?" as he went "ooooh great thanks akh lakh makh fakhlakh!!! and stormed off. Then he came back and muttered some more Arabic at me and stormed off again. I paid at the counter, smiling lady, very polite. Went to leave and the waiter bloked my path "akh lahk dahk blahk makhdakh". I told him I'd pass on his regards to his mother when I popped round to see her later. Won't be going there again. Not great. Thanks.

My partner and I popped in to Al Dar II for a quick lunch on Friday 6th August 2010. The waitress was unpleasant from the start and when the food came she all but threw it on the table. She had also got the order wrong. The lamb in my sandwich was full of gristle and the potato side dish was half hot, half cold. When we asked another waiter for the bill he pointed to the counter and said "pay over there". We then had to wait several minutes by the busy counter as the credit card machine was being used at one of the tables - obviously not everyone has to pay at the counter. Won't be going again and certainly wouldn't recommend it!

A gluten/wheat intolerant person, I usually buy a "schwarma" takeaway for lunch sans the wheat-based dough and get rice in exchange for a fair price of £5.00. That's rice with some lamb or chicken kebab shavings, tomato slice, pickle slice, onions, garlic sauce. Delicious! At 18:26 on 04/12/09, I purchased same, but sat at a table in the restaurant. Being unable to finish the plate of food, I asked for it to be packed for take away. I was charged a WHOPPING £13.75!!! I had no beverages. That's more than double?!! The man at the till, presumably the manager, said "this is the King's Road". (So?!) "and I've got to pay the rent,it's £300,000". (not MY problem) Did he decided to charge me the earth, because I was carrying a Jimmy Choo bag someone had given me as a gift?!
My dish was not even printed on the menu, PLUS I WAS CHARGED MORE than similar items on the menu!!! Unable to reason with him, I paid the money, BUT I WILL NEVER go there again and as an influencial person in and around Chelsea I will definitely spread the word. What a shame for Al Dar. Yours truly, Michelle B.

ive been there few times, the food is great, and the staff are really good, but the service is too bad, i think there is short staff there, as i dont think 2 waiters can do all the service in the rest..

The food is delicous, plenty of variety and always served quickly. Very well priced and the staff are very friendly, always adding bits of food here and there for free. Definately recommended to anyone.
