Cafe Rouge is a chain of Brasserie-style restaurants serving a range of light meals and drinks within a French atmosphere. There is a large choice of dishes as well as hot and cold drinks which makes this restaurant a good stop off point for tea and snacks rather than grand dinners. This branch can cater for private parties of up to 70 guests upon request. They also have a bar area.

Café Rouge in Basil Street. The waiter refused to serve us because we sat in front of the café outside. He tried to force us going inside despite the fact that it was a beautiful sunny day. The lame excuse was that the tables outside were only for customers who order food, not for drinks or coffee!!! What a horrible policy, especially when you call yourself a “café”. No need to say that there was no indication at all of the tables outside being for “food ordering customers” only, and that his point was totally out of place and barely legal. We asked to speak to the manager who rudely reiterated the same rubbish. I would recommend you avoid that amateurish “Café” if you don’t want to face idiots who don’t have any sense of customer service and politeness. That chain should be senctionned by the Office of Fair Trading for its practices.
