The Real Greek Souvlaki & Bar serves a selection of mezedes and souvlaki, which is very much the Greek version of street food. Mezedes are small dishes, designed to be eaten like Tapas; souvlaki are simple skewers of marinated meats that are cooked on a charcoal grill and eaten wrapped in flat bread. They also offer a range of cocktails, both traditional and with a Greek twist.

I am a fan of all things Greek, especially the food.

Went to the real Greek to relive the memory of the cuisine, knowing it was never going to be as good as the REAL thing.

it was never going to be as fresh as smaller true Greek restaurant, but it was good enough to remind me just how good the real deal is.

The real Greek is good for a bite, but I'll be booking my next holiday soon...

Quite awful tourist trap taking advantage of a lot of passing trade. I can't believe anyone would go back. Shoddy, careless service. Naff overpriced junk food. Very little resemblance to generous, flavoursome, fresh tasting food found all over Greece. Don't waste your money !

The Real Greek on Southbank is another one of favorite dining places when we do our London visits from the States. Located astride the Millennium Bridge & Tate Modern, it's a great place to drop in for a snack or dinner. Seating is informal & unpretentious, divided between table seats, & stools at informal facing tables.

RG has tweaked its menu for the better. Most folks go for the souvalaki or meat skewers. We've had the pork, chicken, & lamb skewers & found them to be consistently good.

Our own favorites are the meses. We like to get a bottle of wine & settle in with a selection of meses. Of course the olives & pita bread is where one always starts. We also like the tiropitakia ( feta cheese & spinich in a light pastry ), dolomades ( always delicious ), htpiti ( red peppers/onions ), grilled gambas, & a new dish, loukaniko ( sausage w large beans in a tomato sauce . . . great dipping with the pita bread ). Also consider the fava dipping sauce ( crushed fava beans & herbs ).

Service has always been prompt & friendly. Be sure to try some of the authentic desserts - the kaitaifi & baklava are our favs. We like the subdued atmosphere & the view of the Thames ( as well as the wlking journey to get there ). If you ever feel like going Greek, give the The Real Greek a try. The food is tasty and the value for the money is also OK.
