I went here for lunch yesterday and was appalled at the service we recieved from the staff. We were three minutes into our starters and the waiter came along and said our mains were ready and took our plates away!! All the staff are cold and unwelcoming and certainly will not return. Food was ok but nothing special although this could be due to us being put off the whole place when he rushed to get out starters finished.

Around 1 month ago, i wanted to go to behesht, but the reviews online really put me off, but then i thought to myself that i had nothing to lose. So i went to behesht and honestly i think its one of the best restaurants in the region, it was amazing the food was delicious, the staff were polite. But the only issue was the food time, the manager told us it will take long because we went at a very busy time. The food came within 45 to 50 mins, and everything was excellent, so i highly advise you to visit this restaurant, and you will see what i mean.

While the food at Behesht is fine (but nothing to write home about) the service at this Persian restaurant near Kensal Green station is the reason I would never go back.

Meal was hummus (we had to buy greasy naan bread, as it didn’t come with any) & lumps of chewy lamb with a dollop of rice. Dry and rather boring.

The staff were unfriendly and when I got the bill the waiter leaned over & said "You will leave some extra money, yes?" I noted the bill already had a 12.5% service charge added to it, and he said I needed to give more for the waiters. Bizarre and intimidating.

Change their management and especially waiters. I was APPALLED at the service quality - we felt unwelcome - the waiter was almost insulting if we could not understand the menu.

I will never recommend anyone to this restaurant and especially if you have guests with you. Food is ordinary and service is worst i have come across.

They should be struck off a customer servicing institution list (if one exists)

I've been there to eat a number of times but the service is so poor I prefer to get takeaways. The food is not bad and the portions are quite large. The price is really good, which makes me worry about the ingredient's quality. However, the service is not good. Waiters can be rude, ignore you, or try to get you to tip on top of the charged service on the bill if you use card, so best to use cash. I like the convienience of having this place close to home so I dont have to haul down to Alounak or place such as that, but please improve the service.

I would not recommend. We were for a friend's birthday. The food tasted like it had come from a greasy kebab shop and they refused to serve tap water. They got the bill wrong twice. I am not Iranian, but there are much better places to eat.

Well, this used to be the most renowned Iranian restaurant in London, however it seems there standards have dropped (I myself am Iranian). I remember when my parents really intended to treat us or when we were eating out with important friends we would always go there. It's very suitable if you wish to have a taste of Persian foot at a good price with Persian decoration-but the food isn't always reliable and there are even better Iranian restaurants. However you'll never find a more suitably priced restaurant with their standards-but there are better restaurants for quality such as Hafez in Notting Hill.Service generally good but there are only males to serve you and they can be weird or intimidating. Nicely designed better for couples good for families.

Hi.. First time went to Behesht last week as I'm a big fan of Persian Food as its not much spicy and healthy..Had heard a lot about this place but was quite DISAPPOINTED.. Prices were just average but the food wasn't even average.. Something wasn't right about it..Portions were big so couldn't finish it..
Secondly, about the service,, I could see too many waiters there chatting each other but when I tried to get the attention of one of them for some sauce, I was told to wait for my own waiter..few minutes later my survivor(waiter) turned up and got me the sauce which was packed in a take-away container already, I assumed that they probably ran out of plates or something..
My gf had about 80% food left which we decided to take home..Rudely, the waiter banged the empty containers in front of us suggesting us to "Help Urself" for the doggy bag.well we did. and then they charged us lyk 10% service charge as well.. I don't know what was that for.. probably should have cooked there myself to avoid that..
Even when I was eating there, my stomach started singing. On ma way back,, the whole car was stinking and I kept on lukin @ ma gf in a quizzical way about polluting the air but later found out that actually it was the koftas (take-away food) which was stinking in the car.. DUDES, that food was off...
We both kept on running to the toilet all night.. and spent the night in pain and agony.. will never never go there agian... BYE BYE Behesht..

This is a fantastic place to eat out, cheap! You'll find the food delicious and fulling, and if you're feeling thirsty get the traditional tea. Note. for people wanting mix grills, this is the spot! Happy eating! XD

Absolutely rubbish food ! Totally a waste of money ! Went to Behesht since my hubby and his friends are non vegeterians and wanted to indulge in a kebab night and as per their feedback the food was ok. But their veggie option which I had was absolutely horrible ! Spinach and rice was what it was supposed to be but the spinach was raw and the later very dry. And they dont even serve water to gulp all that rubbish down ! Shocking ! Stay away from it is my advice especially if you are not a meat eater....ironically even my husband was not too impressed ! Thumbs down.

Nice food. But the service is atrocious and bitterly homophobic! We couldn't finish our food so we asked for a tupperware. They made US put our own food into it in front of other customers, so embarrassing! Then the waiters didn't even say bye to us...

Not what I expect from a local restaurant...

Will def NOT be going back

Food is truly excellent and great value : the £25 mixed grill easily serves 4 people and is delicious, the home-made bread is great and the mezze are fresh & tasty (and all good value). However, the waiters really appear not to give a damn whether you eat there or not, and can be almost rude, because they know there is a log queue of people waiting for tables. They also refuse to serve tap water (although their mineral water is a very reasonable £1 for a small bottle). If you sit in the first part (near the entrance) you also have to endure the glares and stares of the people waiting for tables (some of whom appear to have the manners of animals - one person who was waiting actually sat down at the table of another family who were already eating (and she wasn't old or diabled at all, just rude). All in all, great food and prices but shoddy service and some very ignorant clientele (for the record, most of the Iranians I know are elegant, educated and sophisticated - so I don't know which rock most of the customers in Behesht on the night I went there crawled out from!).

I've been going to Behesht restaurant for the last 4 years and all the reviews I read didnt really fit to them. Most of the staff are very friendly but I would give them the benefit of doubt because they get so busy and have to work more than they earn.

Behesht is unique and I recomment it to anyone anytime!

We almost decided to try somewhere else having read the reviews on here, however we went with it in the end. It was absolutely superb. We booked a table (just as well as there seemed to be queues all the time) The food was excellent and the prices unbelieveable really. The Quantities were enourmous and we now have enough food at home for another meal today - they are great about giving out boxes to take the food home. Yes we were asked to leave at the end of the two hours, but it very clearly states maximum stay 2 hours, and the table had been booked out. The surroundings and the ambience of the place is great. I would recomend this place to anyone - and it was great to get somewhere where there was no alcohol - no rowdy idiots to put up with. Cannot comment on how well the waiters were with English as my husband speaks Farsi so we had no problems.

I used to be regular attendant of Behisht resturant but recently the personal treatment of the staff to the customers proved to be very low. I went with my two coleagues ( Medical consultant and a writer dined there and to our surprise that one of the worker, whose name was nia impolitely informed us that we ought to eat quickly as the maximum one should stay is between 30 to 45 minutes!!! At that time there were two tables empty behind us. We did not like the service.

The three of us decided to advice our friends to search for other Middle eastern resturant that offer better service. Possibly the increase in the number attending the resturant caused the management to forget one fact that the good servic they offer to their customer the more success the resturant will get.

So my friends and I just had dinner at this restaurant and I must say the overall experience was quite positive.

Having tasted the real thing back in Iran, the quality of the food is rather impressive and also very reasonably priced. Full starter tray, plus main course and dessert for four people, only £56! (Including drinks and %12.5 service)

The waiters were patient and polite and they were happy to give us plastic containers to take the remaining food away, which I found to be a nice touch as we never manage to finish the main course after stuffing ourselves with the starters and Nan. Also one of my friends is vegetarian and she absolutely loved the veggie options. Add to that the lovely atmosphere of the place and you can't go wrong.

I live in Oxford and usually organize Persian food outings once a term for my friends and every time we try a new restaurant and Behesht is by far one of the better ones. I am definitely going back!

A word of warning though, apparently the place gets quite busy and somewhere in their menu it reads “Max stay 2 hours” and for a moment I thought I was going to look like an idiot in front of my friends if we got kicked out, which didn’t happen as it was a Tuesday! So if you are going there on a weekend make sure you reserve a table well in advance, ideally for after 8:00pm

P.S. The last three reviews seem to be from the same person … hmmm strange!

I went to Behest for a freinds birthday recntly. We had booked the amount of tables we wanted yet still there were major seat issues despite them knowing the amount of people expected. the waiters also refused to serve us "TAB WATER" as it says on the menu. Otherwise the restaurants food was absolutly amazing... i loved every bit of it.. !!!
The Decor is beautifull but slightly clostrophobic.
Otherwise..BEHESHT IS THE BOMB...!!

My friend and I travelled 50 miles to come here upon hearing how great the place was. Although not a disappointment as such, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The décor of the place is amazing and typically Persian. We had no trouble with the waiters, unlike several people here. In fact, we found the waiters to be very accommodating and friendly. The food did take quite a while to arrive, however we were very impressed with the huge portion sizes. Food standard was as you’d expect for the prices they charged – cooked well and tasty, but nothing over the top. If you want elite Persian food, this is not the place for you; however, if you want food that hits the spot for a good price, Behesht is thoroughly recommended. If you want a better experience, I’d recommend Sarab restaurant in Surbiton. It’s a little more expensive but the food is absolutely delicious, the ambience is cosy and very welcoming, and the service is fantastic. Faultless.

Definitely one of the better Persian Restaurants you can go to in West London. The food was great, and the ambiance of the place added to the overall experience. I'm also glad to inform everyone that the toilet was very clean, so they might have renovated it recently.

The only negative I can say about the place, was the service. I'm not sure, but the waiters don't seem to know how to "build rapport" nor can they communicate with their customers properly. Not to say that they're bad, but they just look like they've had a bad day.

Still, don't let that deter you from visiting a very good Persian Restaurant. Great value for money too!

I cant believe some of the reviews on here- are you guys sure you went to the right place?! Behesht is by far the best restaurant Ive been to - the food is to die for, prices low considering the huge portions and the setting is gorgeous. I do agree with the service being a little iffy though - definitely room for improvement there! But overall an excellent restaurant-definitely recommended.

I went to this place for my Dad's birthday and it was a disaster. Yes, the food is good, but the service is very poor and they refused to serve us tap water! I’m sure that’s illegal. Their excuse was "we don't have a licence from the council to serve tap water" - "the tap water is un-hygenic"! it's SHOCKING! I had to resort to drinking a glass of ice cubes! (we asked about the ice cubes by the way, and they make them from the tap water!). When we refused to pay the service charge we were then intimidated and insulted by about 3 waiters who all stood over us. I would avoid this place completely, there are far better food places on Edgware Rd.

Loved the food, the authentic taste, the portions and the decore!! and in regard to the toilet for the men's toilet that I used, I would give it 5/10, so it could be better set up. But would definitely go there again and again. My Swedish girlfriend loved it so much that she wants to get a persian recipe book now!! ;)

If you like big portions at low prices, of course at the cost of the quality this is the place for you.

The place is filthy and the food horrible. If you think you may need the toilet use a public one before going to this place.
