As the UK’s only authentic German/Bavarian restaurant, the Bavarian Beerhouse offers a wide selection of German beers, hearty Bavarian food and entertainment in a rustic beer-cellar environment. Opened in January 2006, the restaurant and bar on City Road in Islington, London, has quickly become popular with residents and the city crowd alike, who enjoy the genuine beer-hall ambience and table service provided by charming waitresses in traditional Bavarian 'Dirndl' dress.
In addition to its restaurant, Bavarian Beerhouse Ltd runs a fully equipped catering unit bringing “Oktoberfest” to business parks, corporate companies and private functions all over England, Scotland and Wales

Don that pink veil and furry handcuffs...

Plentiful beer, meat on the menu and girls dressed in dirndls, but before you accuse us of stereotyping let us tell you that Bavarian Beerhouse offer hen do packages (in addition to stags of course) that include champagne and a personal waiter dressed in lederhosen.

Thirsty? Just as well...

German-themed bars are not just for Oktoberfest, as the popularity of Bavarian Beerhouse shows. Big crowds gather whenever a relevant football match is screened, on other nights the Oompah music and staff dressed in Bavarian costume is entertainment enough. All the beers can be ordered in two-pint steins.

I went to the Bavarian Beerhouse last weekend and had a fab time!
We had some food first and of course German beers with it. I really love the German sausages with sauerkraut. The service was excellent and the waitresses charming. I also learned a bit about German culture and got taught a few German words. Later we tried the Pornobrause (you really should try this!!) and ordered a few schnaps meter. It was great fun! Proooost!!!
I have never actually been to a bar in London where English people are seen really 'letting go' and not worrying about looking trendy, hip or sexy ( that's not to say there aren't sexy people there) it's simply a place for people of all nationalities to have fun. The beer is much better than English beer too. I ended up trying most of them on the night, and personally thought the Erdinger was the best.
Long live the Bavarian Beerhouse!

I have been to both restaurants (the Beerhouse on City Road and the new one near Tower Hill) several times now and every time had an absolutely brilliant night out.
We have always received receive exceptional service, with a great, traditional atmosphere- a rarity these days. Overall a great night out for any event, be it a birthday or just a drink.

The starters & mains arrived at same time. No problem, but my main meal was wrong. Waitress argued with me that I had made the mistake despite ordering by number & asking her to substitute the chips which do not come with the wrong dish. When finally manager agreed to replace meal, waitress made me feel guilty for her mistake by saying ‘so you're going to make me pay for your meal?’ Waitress's attitude after that was frosty, and we just could not be bothered to order anything else. At end of meal she very obviously checked for tip and gave venomous thank you because there wasn’t one. Good beer, average food, terrible service, dirty toilets. If you must go, go with large group, or stay awa

As a lot of other reviewers have pointed out, the service in this place is terrible. With the addition of the rudest mangers, (including the owner of the establishment) I would recommend that everyone go anywhere but here. Try Belgo Nord if you like your beer and good atmosphere in North London.

The whole hellish afair was further compounded by the rudest management Ive ever had the displeasure of meeting. Somehow we were supposed to be greatful for not having to pay for the two meals that never arrived. The owner even refused me a simple apology.

Really good night out here - very authentic and lively! Definitely not for 'high-brow' people as its a question of sitting at benches and eating pretty basic food, but for something different it's a great idea!

I really enjoyed this place. If you've been to, and liked, traditional restaurants and bars in Germany you'll like this place.

They serve German beers (in 1 litre steins :) ) and the menu is very typically German with all of the favourites including every type of sausage and cabbage dish you could ask for.

It's not that expensive either, although if you get through a few steins of lager it can add up.

All in all a good night out, don't take people here to impress them, take them to get drunk and have a laugh.

(The barmaids uniforms are worth going for alone!)
