NoorJahan is popular in the evenings so booking is advisable. Catering for private parties of up to 10 guests is available upon request. They also offer a takeaway option.

Can you take the heat?

This neighbourhood restaurant in the Earl’s Court area has a celebrity following, and one of its fans is the famously fussy-eating Gwyneth Paltrow. We’re not sure whether she would order the rogan josh but we like to imagine her attempting to remain composed while ploughing through this scorching curry.

Hi,

Speaking from experience off the last ten years, when I use to live in Kensington, I was a city worker and used to always eat at Noorjahan. I now live in LA and when I had to attend a board meeting in London and I was doing my paper work while I was in the air, SUDDENLY my mind clicked and I though to my self 'after my board meeting I must eat a full course mean at Noorjahan along with my old colleagues'. To my surprise even after ten years the management is still the same, the food was the same, and the bar men is still the same and charming. I had to few minutes so that I could be seated but while I was waiting the bar man offered me refreshing chicken bites with bursting taste before I sat at a table. (Great service).

I was introduced to Noorjahan by a friend of mine during my days as a student, and since then not tasted anything as delicious. My regular starter lamb chop, lamb tikka and the awesome tandoori king prawn masala as my main course, i also recommend Noorhjahan's nan breads, as it is soft and smells freshly made.
The food colourings looked natural and didnt feel sticky to my palate.
I like the atmosphere which adds extra to the experience and didn't mind waiting in a few occasions. Currently moved away but still when in londpn, its my favouite curry house.

I have been to Noor Jahan's before and on my previous visit felt that the restuarant was worth another visit. However, yesterday I have felt really dissapointed with both the quality of the food and service. We received our meals about 5 minutes after ordering and the food overall was very dry and overcooked. The mixed grill in specific was tasteless and very hard to chew.

On a positive note the rice and nan bread was good, but I can get this at a local shop for less inconvenience.

Check on OPENING HOURS BEFORE you make a journey to here. Today not able to accept customers at 12.10 hours despite being allegedly being OPEN. Very upset at the offhand and rude member of staff that came to the door. Have been going here for 40 years but today will certainly be the last time. Standards have fallen the waiting staff here used to be attentive and friendly. Anyway we ate very well locally and noticed that there were still no covers when we passed by the restaurant later, having eaten.
I think that they think because a few "celebrities" have been to the place they can lower all the standards. Would like to give a zero rating as we did not get anything!!
Oh by the way I did meet Eric Clapton at a very ordinary bar/restaurant in Athens, and whilst he is entertaining and charming, this does not make the establishment a must go destination. In fact I think I will try that place in Greece again - they are not so celebrity obsessed there!!!!

The food at Noor Jahan is standard fare, some of it quite good. We liked our mains, but did not stay for pudding. It was hard to enjoy the food, as the we were treated quite rudely, and ineptitude of their staff is mind-boggling. We felt stressed and tense the whole time we were there. We arrived on-time, the restaurant, which is quite small was completely empty, except for two other small tables. There were 7-8 servers/staff standing around. One would have thought our party of six would have been well-tended with the staff to customer ratio so favorable. Not so, we were treated rudely, dismissively, we could not catch the eye of any of the servers. We waited and waited for our check. One of our meals was delayed and the waiter tried to blame us(??) We spoke to a manager, whose response was ruder still. In the end we could only laugh, but in this economy, one would think service would improve, but evidently Noor Jahan doesn't subscribe to that notion.
There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area--no need to give your business to Noor Jahan.
Have your say
