The food was great and I loved it.
The waiter huffed and snorted at my choices (too little food). He was simply rude. The menu warns that 12.5% was included for service but then the waiter expects even more, the bill is misleading and the unwary will tip twice!

London is full of Indian restaurants, but most of them have little to do the culinary arts of Delhi.
The Grand Indian Restaurant, in New Row, off St. Martins Lane, however, is an exception.
It’s the subtlety of the spices that sets this restaurant apart.
The chicken jalfrezi and mutton dansak were delightfully different from the usual bland curries that are ‘hot’ or ‘very hot’. The naan bread was freshly baked and pilau rice lightly flavoured.
Two people can eat and drink for around £45 - £50, but be warned, it’s usually packed.

No smiles, no welcome, no polite communication. Was told "no" 3 times at being asked (politely) for our table candle to be lit. No pictures, no ambience, talking loudly amongst themselves, coughing up spit. I'd like to give constructive advice but where is the common sense. This place is on the tourist route so they will still get their customers so why should they care. And the chicken was overcooked.

I was a bit confused on the name of the restaurant and when I asked what the actual name was I was told "what do you think?" From the waiter. We dismissed that 'attitude problem' and went in for a meal to be confronted by rude table service. Wasn't asked whether we wanted a drink, the waiter just said "drink?" And took our order. We weren't asked whether we wanted any popodoms so just ordered food. The food, when it arrived, was mediocre. The pickles had been on the tables all day and the pots they were in were broked and cracked. The waiters were walking around eating food from behind the counter whilst working still. It was an expensive meal which didn't leave a nice taste in my mouth. Would never go back again-worst indian we have ever had.

Me and my wife were passing the New Row which is spot lights throw from St. Martins Lane we saw an indian restaurant called GRAND INDIAN RESTAURANT.
We read the various reviews hanging on the window and we were convinced to eat there. Whilst we were standing in the front reading the menu, we were approcahed by an incredibly frieindly waiter who came to greet us at the door. After being appointed to our seats the waiter came and recommended to us to take Aloo Chat and Tandoori Chicken for the starter. Although the Aloo Chaat was a bit salty but the taste was delicious and the chicken was moist and tender. We shared Karahi duck and Acher Beef which were delightfully different from the usual b

This place did a good buffet served in silver servers, there were big spoons and you helped yourself. Last visit I went in at lunch and there was nobody there apart from a waiter - adding food to the buffet with one hand and smoking a cigarette with the other. I challenged him about this and he said "It isn't ready. Get Out!" This was 12.45 in the afternoon. Help yourself buffets are good but you often don't know the history or the age of the food. Now I know what happens here is should be avoided, London has far better to offer.
