My experience of this restaurant has always been positive, unlike the previous reviewer. I've been coming here since the 70s ( when it was called the Chang Mai Mei) Food is always good, service is fine , if a little distant, but the tiger 's whiskers prawns are superb as are all their soups and hotpots, and almost every time I go I have their sea food fried noodles. A new dish for me the last time I went was scallops stuffed with cuttlefish, very good! Good honest food at affordable prices, what more could you ask for?

This restaurant is horrific. As we were lead up the stairs we were met with the stench of bleach and urine. For some reason we persisted in ordering food, as we were a large party and did not have a booking anywhere else. The dishes we ordered ranged from mediocre to appalling. However, it was the service that was the most shocking aspect of this wholly negative experience. The waitress was not just incompetent but down right rude. Half of the groups drinks arrived after the starters, requests for water were met with vicious retorts. Menus were snatched, foil was found in the food and one starter arrived as the bill came! We complained to the manager, something I have never felt moved to do before, who in all fairness was very apologetic, yet he did not seem surprised when I told him I had just experienced the worst service in my life. At ten pounds a head with wine, it is cheap, but we were still left feeling completely cheated (and hungry).

I have been eating in Hing Loon for years now, their food is substantially on a great budget and the food is excellent too. The food tastes good with a mixture of texture which is suprisingly nice - for example the sweet and sour prawns and noodles are nice. The place is not all lavish or glamourous compared to other chinese restaurants in town but the customer service is excellent and the food is delicious and cheap! Love it.
