Having opened in 1950, The India Club has changed very little since. It has a slightly bedraggled yet charming interior and specialises in South Indian food at reasonable prices. A non smoking area is provided, and private parties for up to 75 guests can be arranged.

Just very poor quality food. I love the ambiance, the minimalist democratic style but the food was shoocking

We ordered a combination of veg and meat dishes. Most of the food looked as if it came out of the cold storage and was heated in a lot of cheap oil.
The Naan bread was not fresh they looked like the ones from supermarkets heated in the micro.
Food was expensive, we will never visit again

Sadly, the India Club seems to have undergone a change in management and is now really not worth a visit. The menu is bland and overpriced.

Best. Indian. Ever.
Seriously, I haven't eaten such good Indian food anywhere outside India. Their Dhosas are to die for, fluffy bundles of loveliness, their Aubergine curry is wondeful, and the Chilli Bahjis are just awesome. The last time I was there, I was one of a few Westerners eating, it's good to know that indian people come from miles around to eat there.

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary and cheap as chips this is your place. The set menu is great and the food just kepps on coming, the staff are very helpful, sweet and funny and the building has new toilets now which are great. It's bring your own so you can get sloshed on whatever you want and have great food with it. The Decor is hilarious, it looks like a cross between and aging student union and an old pub function room and it's bright yellow to keep you awake when you're nodding off from too much booze, but I have to say the food was so good we hardly noticed the walls and we'll deffinately be going again in a hurry!
Have your say
