The sag paneer only had sugar, salt and pepper as spices, the tandoori lamb chop had no spices at all, the pilau rice smelt of burnt oil and the biryani had on,y three small pieces of lamb. When we complained they shrugged their shoulders and simply said that’s the way most people like it! Absolutely disgusting. The fact that we were the only people there should have given us the clue to the quality of food there.

I've been to the light of India on several occasions and I thought it was time to add a review. The food is absolutely delicious, both the veg and non veg, the atmosphere is always good and the staff always make you feel important, I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone, will be back soo

We went on Sept 2 , 2010 to this restaurant. The location is very convenient and as we entered it looked to be nice. We ordered food from the menu and it arrived. So far so good. We are visiting London been to other Indian restaurants. We did not find any thing above the mark for the quality or the quantity of the food than the other nearby Indian restaurants. But definitely environment is much nicer than others. Final surprise came in the bill. It is handwritten and there was an extra charge. Checked carefully and no one is around to ask. Finally figured out it was 10% of the total. But no where it was mentioned what it was for. we assume, it was 10% tips as it has been advised in the visit London booklet. Finally when we went to pay they are telling us to provide the tips and we asked why. Since it was already included in the hand written receipt and what was it. The cashier could not explain clearly, mentioned about the company charges which was totally unheard of. He said in a pitiful way do not give the tips as if we were unable to. Finally we had given extra tips. This made the whole mood of eating in the restaurant so awful .. it is very difficult to describe. When it comes to the food, it is added with lot of components seating, ordering, quality , quantity, freshly prepared, service and surroundings. Based on that tip is calculated they may deserve that but including the tips in the bill and later denying it , makes the whole set up based on cheap technique which nullifies so much decor and posh of the restaurant.

We were there recently. The restaurant has a lot to learn when it comes to service. I haven't been to any other restaurant in London where the waiters can not handle the fact that small children both can drop food on the table and may make noise. I apologised and I felt a little embarrassed that my 2 year old don't have the best dinner behaviours, but I'm even more embarrassed that some of the waiters couldn't accept my apologies nor understand that small kids clearly aren't experts after 1 training session..
As it would seem from the faces some of the employees made this might have been one of the first times they would have to wash their tablecloths after having had vistors. Apparently some of the crew think they're posher than the Ritz. And they expect tip accordingly. The food was nothing more than average - the Nan bread being burnt, and the rest only adequate.

Took my mother there for the last night of our London visit. To us, the staff was very friendly and flirted away with my mother - much to her delight!
Food was alright, what was described as hot on the menu was extactly that - hot hot hot! Flavour was excellent and made, together with the hot spices, small explosions in my mouth. Maybe not the very best I've had, but I enjoyed it.
The waiter checked on us a couple of times and even joked with my mother despite a language barrier. Hot towels after the meal was a nice touch.
Hand-written bill that was hard to read and not 100% sure it was correct, looked to be maybe a bit high, as we ordered a couple of items without looking at the menu. Waiter made a faux pais when he commented on the service charge not being included on the bill, but it was all done in a smiling and friendly tone. He came around with a few extra pieces of chocolate for my mother as we left. Nice.
Not the best meal I've had, but not the worst either. Would go back, but check the menu better.

Visited this restaurant on Sunday 15 March. Unfortunately, this is the worst restaurant we have ever visited and it spoiled our evening. We ordered poppadoms and drinks and the waiter who took our order was rude to us as he snorted at our order. A second waiter approached us several minutes later and, as we were making our choices from the menu, ordered us to put our menus away because he said we were putting poppadom crumbs and apple sauce on them. My wife and I then informed the waiter that we would not be eating in the restaurant and ordered the bill. When the bill arrived it included the drinks we had not drunk and the poppadoms we had hardly touched. When we told the waiter we thought we should not be expected to pay for the poppadoms he said we had to. Whilst I sat at the table and paid the bill my wife spoke to the manager and he said that the waiters had worked there for 20 years and this was the first time anyone had ever made a complaint and he confirmed we had to pay for the drinks and poppadoms we had hardly touched. By far the most disappointing service we have ever had and a very upsetting evening.
