All In London Review
One of the largest wine lists in London
The wine list comprises nearly 300 wines, encompassing renowned European producers, New World wines, vintages and tempranillos. For the mere apprentices among us there are clear descriptions on the menu and you need not break the bank, as a humble Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc is just £17.95 a bottle, although you can also splash out £128.45 on a 1996 Chardonnay from the Alto Adige region. A smaller, separate list offers wines by the glass; the 2008 Pouilly Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is £6.10 for 125ml, while a dry Malvasia Blanca will set you back just £2.70. As well as tried and tested producers there are surprises, such as an incredibly fragrant Bacchus, produced in Cornwall by Camel Valley, at £32.75 a bottle.
Vinoteca offer a wine to suit every nose and palate, but what of the food? The menu changes daily, meat is sourced from Smithfields Market and bread is baked on the premises. The cuisine leans towards modern European and Mediterranean, i.e. warm crepe of rabbit and bacon with goat’s cheese, mackerel ceviche, etc; naturally every item comes with a wine suggestion. A dish of very succulent tiger prawns with sundried tomato is intensely garlicky - explaining the aforementioned aroma. Vinoteca is a thoughtful venture dreamt up by people who clearly love their wine, as this has to be one to the most comprehensive wine lists in London.
