Of all the "Indian" (actually, Bangladeshi) restaurants in Church Street this is my top choice. It has a comforting old-style decor and it is clear that the food is cooked to order rather than pre-prepared and re-heated. On very busy nights it is sometimes understaffed but (with the exception of a recently hired waiter) the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful.

Every "Indian" restaurant has its own recipes for the well-known dishes and, to my taste, the Anglo-Asian's chefs hit the nail very firmly on the head. They also throw-in some freebies to make you feel special.

My friend and I were made welcome at first but as more regulars who the staff knew by name arrived, we began to feel we were in the way.

I gave the waiter a good tip, £5 on the £42 bill. He just scooped it up without so much as an acknowledgement. That was rude in my opinion.

The food was good and the prices are reasonable (hence the tip) but unless you are a regular the service may not be that great or friendly.

I would not recommend this place.

I really disagree with the previous reviewer - and think they must have just had an off night. I find the staff incredibly helpful, always throwing in 'extras', and the food consistently fresh and tasty.

Called up for a delivery last night and they couldn't find my address so i had to go and collect. No apologies for having to go out at 11pm, nor any free papadums which i requested because of the inconvenience. Staff were rude. Food was almost inedible - i would have done better using a jar or even Asda value curry!- yes it was that bad. My cat wouldnt even eat it and she loves curry! Very disappointed. Wouldn't recommend eating from here. Used to go here all the time but will never go back.
