A great Chinese restaurant in Queensway that serves excellent dim sum at lunch and authentic Cantonese cuisine throughout the day. Bright and airy, the restaurant is a firm favourite with locals and tourists alike.

Can you take the heat?

Although Kam Tong is Cantonese (generally a milder cuisine than that of its Chinese neighbours), there’s a very snappy Hunanese curry on the menu. The food in Hunan, in the northern part of the country, is famous for its heat.

Friendly service topped with good, honest cantonese cuisine. The roast duck and crispy pork was probably the best in town. Vegetable dishes were fresh and tasty. Looking forward to next visit in December.

Kam Tong has been here forever but I heard it had recently been taken over by new management so was curious to see how it fared in comparison to it’s previous incarnation and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
We arrived early on a Saturday and there was already a small queue waiting for the doors to open. Once inside, the place is much brighter and although plainer, had some nice details. We were quickly seated and given menus.
We ordered a selection of dim sum and a couple of other dishes. I would highly recommend the dim sum which all turned up hot and tasty. The prawn dumplings were succulent and the pastry skins nice and thin. The pork puffs were flaky, moist and sweet – probably one of the best in town, and the vietnamese spring rolls perfectly crisp and not too oily. They had a couple of items that you don’t always see on traditional menus like the curry puff and and the xo scallop dumplings which were really good, as well as the mooli cubes done Malaysian style.
The beef ho fun noodles were also excellent – they can sometime come too oily but here, it was really good and the beef was tender. The veg we ordered (gai lan) was perfectly crisp without being hard. The Hokkien fried rice was also very good. My favourite was the portugese egg tarts – OMG, yum!
Staff are friendly, efficient and helpful,
In summary, this place is a classy one (proper table cloths and napkins), with good quality, authentic food with decent portion sizes at pretty reasonable prices. Top marks! I will definitely come back.

We spent a week in London visiting from the U.S.: we ate twice at Kam Tong, the second time because we all wanted to return because the food was so delicious and the service so attentive. We can certainly highly recommend this restaurant.

Not knowing the area too well I booked a table at Kam Tong on the recommendation of a friend. With the friend being Hong Kong Chinese I thought they would know their stuff - they did! Ten of us had a great evening with top quality food, really excellent service and a surprisingly well selected wine list for a Chinese restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend Kam Tong if you're in the area.

This restaurant has recently been fully refurbished and looks great. Loved the duck with noodles and dim sum. Busy but worth waiting fir a table.
