I went to Gourmet Buffet for the first time for a friend's birthday dinner. I found the food to be of very poor and cheap quality, either very greasy or the sauces rather watery (eg sweet and sour sauce). Full of teenagers queueing up on a Saturday night wanting a cheap dinner, this restaurant is a far cry from 'gourmet' food. If you eat Chinese food regularly (and I do seeing as I am Chinese myself) then WALK AWAY! I would never recommend this to anybody and I ceratinly more than happy not to come back!

The food was AMAZING but the staff attidude was repulsive. I had taken my mother as I was going to tell her some good new. We were having a nice conversation when 3 teenagers came and sat at the table next to us. ASfter they had filled the stomachs; they got up and left.
As I recieved the bill to see £46.15, I asked a member of staff "why is my bill so high" and she answered "well I aint the manager so...."
So I spoke to the manager just so he could tell me " As those teenagers were with you; and you had all those drinks, that is the cost" "the teenagers were'nt with us" "I'm sorry but as far as im concern; your going to have to pay the bill"
I had just enough money to pay the bill as I was going to take my mother to the cinema.
So BEWARE viewers, this restaurant is a no go

I agree with the first reviewer that the staff members are quite rude and an incident happened that I need to let the public aware of, especially those with children. It happened on Thursday 24th February 2010. Me and my wife attended the restaurant with our 18 month old son and we were asked to pay for him. We were suprised by this as other chinese buffet restaurants have not asked us to pay for our son. So I asked where does it say that. She pointed to the inconspicuous transparent window which has a height ruler and says that any child under this has to pay £4.50 (half price). The mistake that the restaurant made was that they didn't inform us before we sat down that we would have to pay for our son. I asked to speak to the manager and he said because your son has already started eating (sharing as they call it!) he needs to be charged half price. We only intended to have two buffets and he would share from my wifes plate. But they don't allow sharing for a small baby! The manager then saidw e still have to charge you. And then sarcastically said with a smile "Is there anything else I can help with".
I woul seriously not recommend this restaurant to anyone and wouldn't touch it with a bargepole! BEWARE CUSTOMERS WITH BABIES! From now on I am going to ask will they charge for my son in any restaurant I go to it's just not worth taking the risk!
I am also going to report this issue to watchdog and rogue traders- SO BEWARE!
