Shocked. We simply could not believe our eyes.We were going out for a meal at Zipangu (our usual haunt) to only find out it it's no longer trading and was under new management and a completely different sushi restaurant.Being curious we went inside and made our way downstairs, everything had changed, there was a pungent smell of fresh black and grey paint everywhere and slightly over powering. After looking at the very limited menu and not being able to adjust into new environment we decided to leave. Will there ever be another "Mothers Kitchen".

Well what can i say, myself and fiance have been eating here for as long as i can remember,to the point it's pretty hard for us to eat elsewhere. It may not look much from the outside but once inside you can't help but feeling like your in a little Japanese kitchen especially when we sit downstairs in one of the catacombs, very intimate. The food is wonderful, the hot sake and the service is outstanding. My fiance has a birthday coming up and there is no doubt in my mind we will visiting there right after we have been to see "Grease" the musical.

Keep up the good work Zipangu.

Fantastic little restaurant. Very unassuming from the outside but this belies the array of wonderful food on offer. The basic decor is very like most traditional sushi-ya in Japan. Having lived there for a few years I felt a real sense of nostalgia wash over me upon entering. The service is quick, efficient and unintrusive,in the Japanese tradition. We had sushi and sashimi. The fish was fresh and beautifully cut, with just the right amount of wasabi on the sushi to give it a kick.It was to die for!We then had chicken katsu curry and yakitori. Both were very authentic and beautifully cooked. To top it all, the prices are ridiculously cheap, quite similar to those in Japan. I will rush back!
