Casa Mama is our restaurant of choice when we visit London. Reading some of the other reviews it is quite clear that the subscribers have never set foot in the place. The waiters are very helpful and will attend to your needs even if you are not at "their" table. They will even provide a non-standard combination of menu items on request and if time allows are happy to have a conversation about anything from Italian food to what's on in town. Food is good and not over-priced and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

Reading one other review, which would put others off, I thought it only fair to state my sincere views. I have dined in Casa Mamma about half a dozen times and have found it to be a no nonsense italian restaurant. It smacks of all that is good about italian cuisine and dining i.e. it does not pretend to be "fine dining", and there is no fawning in the service. It does offer good, honest fare, with the bright spark of italian hospitality. Go elsewhere if you want two Michelin stars, but come here if you like lively atmosphere, good italian humour, and a laugh.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, I wouldn't wish to impose this service on anyone. The manner in which we were greeted combined with the very poor food and atmosphere make this a comfortable entrant in my top 5 worst restaurants ever. Steer well clear.

I find it comfortable to meet friends to have lunch here before I get the train home from Kings Cross. I find the food and service reasonable and tasty. Being disabled I could not use it if I didn't know there was an accessible loo across the road as their's is downstairs.

Absolutely superb. This is a real traditional Italian place - not at all pricy with very high quality food. The service was top notch and the atmosphere very pleasent indeed. I would heartily recommend this place, but you will need to book as even by 6pm getting a table is going to be a challenge.

They even know how to make a doppio machiatto properly! First rate all round!

Called into Mamma Cassa's on Saturday 1 November, as it was near to Kings Cross and we needed a quick meal before the train was due. Nice atmosphere and surroundings. Pizza was lovely, decent size however my sister had tag carbonarna and for the price I would have expected a much larger portion, it was more a starter size but nice all the same and the salad was nice. We had to wait a while before our order was taken but the food did arrive pretty quickly. I would definitely go in here again if staying in this area and there isn't many other decent looking restaurants around other than McDonalds and KFC !

As a northerner i travel down to kings cross station four to five times a year and for the last 7-8 years have been arriving two hours earlier than when needed to pop in good old casa mamma.

Good atmosphere, good people, good food, with quick service and at reasonable prices. Over the years i've taken various colleagues and clients here for a quick bite to eat and all have said that they've been back.

For where it is and what it is, it's a great place to go.

I went there with my mum last summer 2007. We are both Italians and good cook. The food is less than average, actually is bad!
I would never go back they pretend to be an italian restaurant but they are not!my ordered fritto misto di pesce very cheap looking fish and icame served with chip which never do in italy if i order fish it means i want fish, a selection of fried good quality fish! My advice is to stay away from this place

Visited in august 2008, ordered spaghetti bolognese, it was awful, tasted like it came out of a tin!, garlic bread was burnt to a crisp and inedible, tried to complain politely but no-one was interested, refused to pay for half the meal and they just accepted this as though it happened all the time, no apology, just stood looking bored.

The manager was abrupt. The pizza bread with garlic and olive oil was no better than cream crackers. My Cassa Mama salad (grilled chicken with grilled veggies on rocket leaves) had no dressing or flavour; the chicken was dry and the grilled veggies were straight out the fridge. My husband offered me some of his lasagne but I declined, not wanting to deplete his small portion any more. Afterwards he compared the lasagne to a ready meal and said it tasted like it had been made a week earlier. Unfortunately service was included in the bill because I would have preferred to have paid nothing. Don't get seduced by the lovely décor or convenient location. Cassa Mama is a waste of time and money

We stayed across the road from here and decided to give it a go and I am very glad we did! The atmosphere was very good for a small restaurant and there was plenty of space for us to get a table. We were very well served by the waitors, who took our orders promptly and our food was served within a quick time. The menu was well varied with different types of dishes, myself having a pizzas from the menu, which may I add was really nice to eat and was well priced (I got a lot of pizza for my money!). My other half enjoyed her Tagliatelle Carbonara, which she tends to always have and said it was one of the best ones shes had! All three of us enjoyed it very much and would highly recommend!

I found the waiters very prompt and friendly, and the food was reasonably good (my calzone was generously filled). They do plenty of fairly cheap pasta dishes, meat mains and pizzas, and you can get veg of the day on the side with any of them.

Would definitely recommend it.

I didn't have a good experience with this one. The waiters were disinterested and irritable, and the food was barely average.
