Booking Advisable

This veteran fish and seafood restaurant opened in 1851, but it's hardly showing its age. This is thanks to the fact that it was taken over by Caprice Holdings in the noughties, the same group that own the Ivy and that other acclaimed fish and seafood restaurant, J. Sheekey.

As part of their takeover they gave it a costly refurb, maintaining the same level of opulence that has made it so popular with famous figures throughout its history. This is one of those restaurants where gazing at the impressive array of shellfish on display and the extravagant interior is as much of an experience as eating the food.

There's nothing fishy about these restaurants...

Scott’s opened in 1851; in the noughties it was taken over by Caprice Holdings (the Ivy, J. Sheekey) and given a costly refurb. It’s opulent, pricey and a hit with celebs.

Pretty walls and pretty plates

Art is such an essential component of this seafood restaurant that the Sadie Coles gallery has led tours for people eager to know more about the works on display. British artists Fiona Rae and Gary Hume are among those featured here.

Who doesn't love a challenge?

Unless your surname is Saatchi you'll struggle to get a table at this famous fish restaurant. Part of the Caprice group, their online booking system helpfully guides you to one of their other eateries, among them 34, The Ivy or Le Caprice, all similarly popular with the A list. Even sitting at the bar is beyond reach unless you book way in advance, so your best bet is going for lunch.

Scott's is without a doubt my favourite restaurant in London. Service and food are consistently excellent and because they specialise in seafood, they have got the cooking of this down to absolute perfection.
