All In London Review
Fika’s new brunch menu is simple but good
While the main menu has all the dishes one would expect from a Swedish eatery like meatballs with lingonberry jam, gravadlax and pickled herring, their brunch menu has only four straightforward options. Two of them are healthy: toast and jam, and honey and seed granola, while the pancakes with bacon and blueberries, and eggs on toast with a choice of sides are truer to the menu’s ‘hangover cures’ heading, at least in our gluttonous opinion.
We order scrambled eggs on toast with pickled herring, alternatives are with avocado or bacon. The fish is dressed in a creamy dill dressing and there’s a generous amount of salad leaves, so this doesn’t seem like too much of a stodgy choice. The trio of burgers from the main menu arrive on a wooden plank; the difference between the three sliders being that they contain Brie, goat’s cheese and Applewood smoked Cheddar respectively. The mini-patties are nicely seasoned, and the chips on the side are excellent: hand cut, chunky, with the skin on and baked rather than fried.
Aside from Fika’s intimate dining area there’s a roof terrace with mismatched benches and cushions, and in case you like spying on your neighbours, it backs onto a series of private balconies - good fun.
