Totally Thai is nothing to write home about, even for Barnet‎
Overall the food was of quite low quality- Winter Prawn and chicken wrapped in pandan leaves proved overpriced and unexciting as appetisers. I especially balked at paying £6.95 for four prawns and store-bought dipping sauce. Quite bizarrely, the radishes in the garnish were strategically shaved to resemble toadstools. Both appetisers were dry and overcooked. My main course of Jungle Curry (with chicken) was a further disappointment. Flavours were unsubtle and inauthentic- the predominant one being chilli powder. Fresh chillis are not expensive. The chicken itself was of the incredibly cheap 'chicken-y matter' variety, and was watery and tasteless.
In all, perhaps the worst approximation of Thai food I've ever eaten this side of a Lloyd Grossman sauce. The fact that rice is not included with curries (add £2.50 for a meagre portion) combined with relatively small portions, the overpriced starters and the cheap ingredients leads me to believe this is more of a money-grubbing exercise than a restaurant per se.
As for service and ambience, I found the bench seating at the window to be cramped and uncomfortable and the owner/waitress bored and disinterested. The place was empty. I now know why!
