About: It’s fitting that this museum is located above the Thames Tunnel, the underwater tunnel built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his father Sir Marc Brunel, a formidable duo who revolutionised engineering. This was the first construction of its kind in the world, and today it forms part of the London Overground. The exhibits at the museum focus on the early days of London’s transport system, as well as the process of building the tunnel. The venue is also used for events as diverse as operatic performances, creative writing courses and theatrical performances, most of which take place in the Grand Entrance Hall, where Isambard almost drowned once.Open seven days a week, entry is £3 for adults and free for under-16s.
