The SSE Arena, Wembley is located in the London Borough of Brent in London, England. Owned by The Football Association (FA) it is predominantly used as the English national football team's home ground, and also as the venue for the main English domestic football finals. It has also however been the venue for large pop concerts and other sporting events.
After the Camp Nou, The SSE Arena, Wembley has the second largest stadium capacity in Europe with 90,000 seats. On top of this it boasts the world’s largest seats under cover capacity. However, all this has come at a cost and the New Wembley Stadium also hold the record for the most expensive stadium ever built. Previously just known as the New Wembley Stadium, in 2014 it was renamed the SSE Arena, Wembley.
The original stadium opened in 1923 and was used for the British Empire Exhibition (1924–25), the 1948 Summer Olympic Games and for international football (soccer) matches and music concerts. In 2002 it was demolished and the construction of the new stadium began, and was finally completed and opened in 2007.
