Next time you’re in the vicinity of the Olympic Park in Stratford you might notice a bright lime green building with corrugated walls. This is View Tube, Stratford’s newest community centre that owes its appearance (minus colour) to the fact that it’s made out of shipping containers. The centre has a classroom space designed for teaching about urban renewal, and there are rooms for artists to exhibit their work in. The centre operates a bike hire scheme and runs a gardening group who are aiming to establish a garden that will yield fruit and veg. For the casual visitor there’s a café called Moka East serving hot drinks, soups and cakes.
