Where: Institute of Light
With tickets starting from £6, the cinema at Hackney's Institute of Light is the cheapest in town, screening the latest films alongside quality alternative doccos. But more than a cinema, the IoL is a cultural hub, with a restaurant courtesy of West African sensation Zoe's Ghana Kitchen, and a record shop run by soul experts BBE Records. Head down there mid-week when they play classic albums in full on the cinema's speakers, and you're given a blindfold to help you fully focus on the music.
