If you’re in need of mental stimulation head down to the Institut Francais, where philosophical debates take place every Saturday.
Although the institute is primarily devoted to French language teaching the debates are in English, and anyone can take part. Topics range from the history of European art to writer Emile Zola’s stance on religion. And don’t worry if you’re feeling shy – you can sit in the background and listen if you don’t fancy speaking in front of a crowd.
