Visit a garden library

Enjoy a book, out in the open

Where: Gibbon’s Rent, Southwark

This small but perfectly formed community garden has London’s only outdoor library. It may be limited to a wardrobe standing against one of the walls, but it’s certainly the capital’s most charming booklenders. You can either read the books here or take them home, and if you have any unwanted tomes at home that you no longer want you can leave them here too. There are trees and potted plants which you’re welcome to water, and you can also leave your mark by taking your own plants.

Located close to City Hall and London Bridge station, it’s somehow managed to remain a secret.
